Celebrating his 85th birthday recently is Pinelands resident Günther Komnick. This world renowned and multi-award winning photographer enjoyed lunch with 180 guests at the Vredenheim Wine Estate near Stellenbosch. Mr Komnick has twice received the prestigious CP Hoogenhout gold medal for his children's book illustrations. His latest publication, Cape Town Memories of the 60s is an evocative collection that captures life in District Six, before forced removals.
